Best Rice Krispies EVER!

Updated: Mar 5, 2022

We all know about rice Krispie treats. I'm sure each of us has a childhood memory of making them. What a sticky mess that was melting marshmallows and then trying to stir everything in. I for one have never been a huge fan of marshmallows the only way I really liked them was roasted over a campfire. My husband on the other hand can't stand marshmallows at all. He doesn't really like any sweets though! :)

This recipe was given to me by my sweet mother-in-law! She taught me how to make these one of the first holidays we spent together! I quickly learned that these are a huge hit with everyone. This is not a recipe you can just make a small batch of. I promise it won't be enough if you do! These are great for any party or get together and simple to make. I put mine in a 9 x 13 pan and then cut them to the size I want or need. You can also add any toppings you might want. I have added chocolate chips before to make that peanut butter chocolate combo everyone seems to love.

One of the other great things about this recipe is that when we started following Torah we didn't have to edit or throw away the recipe. You might be asking what that means. Let me explain in a short version and I will make a detailed blog post specific to Torah soon. In short Torah "Gods Law" says not to eat pork it calls it unclean. We choose to live this way and follow Torah because that's how Yeshua (Jesus) lived. Did you know marshmallows had pork in them? I know I didn't know that until we started changing how we were eating. Anyways like I said I will have a post soon on Torah specifically.

Here's the recipe! I hope you enjoy it!

Ingredients

2 cups sugar

2 cups light corn syrup

2 cups peanut butter

1 13 oz box rice Krispie cereal

Heat corn syrup and sugar in a pot on the stove DO NOT BOIL (I try to go with a bigger pot, so I have room for mixing everything in) you want to heat it to the point that it melts the sugar and is clear again. Once sugar is melted add peanut butter stir until smooth. Turn off the heat and slowly add cereal. Pour into a 9 x 13 and flatten out. Let pan sit to cool. Once pan is cooled and the rice Krispie's are firm you can cut them and enjoy.
